11 years ago, we tied the knot! We skied the morning of our wedding on a day just like this. But this year, we were at Smuggler's Notch.... doing a little tour with our friend's. The kids had ski club and we had a great day of skiing followed by a date night in Burlington.
Our date night was slightly abbreviated because Hazen's sleepover plan got foiled by sickness. So, we called in the godparents, Scott and Cynthia to pinch hit and babysit for him while we went out and played. Cal, in the meantime, had a birthday party to go to.
In any case, we had a great day celebrating us. We did what we love to do and ate some delicious food at Honey Road.
This was also the start of my winter break. It all began with a fun afternoon of Winter Carnival. The kids arrived just in time for Hazen to participate in the faculty food eating competition.
We set off on Sunday for three nights at a cabin in Sutton, Quebec. It was a rainy day, so we didn't rush out the door. While is was rainy, there was still snow and the cabin was perfect. Close enough to the hotel to swim in the pool and go in the hot tub, but in the quiet woods.
Fortunately, the rain turned to snow and we had a winter wonderland to play upon on Monday. Unfortunately, almost the whole mountain was on wind hold. But we found some great low angle woods to play within:
On Tuesday, the rest of the mountain opened up, but it was chilly. We found a great lodge at the top of the mountain with a toasty fireplace.
We warmed up at the pool and hot tub:
We had a leisurely morning on Wednesday, playing solitaire and enjoying the sunshine:
These two are at a point in their lives where they are either loving each other or fighting and tattling. You never know what you'll get, but I do love it when they get along:
We got home and Cal was inspired to make Sweet and Tangy Salmon for us. She even invited Cara over to enjoy it. We are so impressed by her cooking interests and abilities. It's such a treat!
