Biking, Swimming, Backpacking, & Soccer

July was about putting in hard time on the bike, in the pool, and on the trail.  Cally is officially an independent biker.  She made it down the Stowe Bike Path to the farmers and back all by herself-- 5 miles! And she didn't run into anyone.  We often ask her if she's been drinking, because of the random swerving action.  However, that only happened a few times.

We also put in hard time at Maple Street Pool (and playground) and Alison's pool.  Cally is a total fish.  Swimming underwater and jumping on her own with a noodle off the diving board.  Hazey is mostly just having fun playing in the water.

Meanwhile, Hazen learned to ride a two wheeler on his own!

Cally has been asking to get her own backpack and the kids both seemed ready to go on their first backpacking trip.  So we rallied for our first family backpacking trip.  It was so, so fun.  And we even saw two baby bears!

The kids were such troopers about the whole thing.  I can't wait to do a multi-day trip with them soon.

And finally, before heading off on our big vacation, the kids both got to go to soccer camp.  Kids are supposed to be a minimum of four years old to attend, but because of Hazey's enthusiasm and interest in the sport, we got permission to get him in.

He did great, but he probably couldn't have done it without such a nice sister looking out for him:

And one of the best parts about soccer camp, is cooling off in the river with friends afterwards.
